The Tall el-Hammam Excavation Project (TeHEP) is the "destination dig" that has become one of the largest archaeological excavations in the Holy Land. The are many reasons for this, but here are three great ones: (1) TeHEP is unearthing the largest Bronze Age city in the region, possibly the site of biblical Sodom itself; (2) TeHEP headquarters is the fabulous Movenpick Dead Sea Resort and Spa, on the Dead Sea shore only a 15-minute drive from the dig site; and (3) the weather is fantastic, with dig-day temps averaging between 65 and 75 degrees F!
 
The excavation is rich with architecture and artifacts from the biblical world, and the dig headquarters is replete with all the amenities of a world-class hotel. The motto "A  pampered digger is a good digger!" rings true for every TeHEP dig volunteer. TeHEP proves that archaeology doesn't have to be endured, but can be enjoyed as a fantastic vacation! TeHEP also provides field trips and side-tours to spectacular sites like Petra, Jerash, Madaba, Umm Qais, Mount Nebo, and many others.
 
The TeHEP dig program is simple and affordable. And you determine the length of your stay. Whether you come for 11 days or the entire dig season, there are three simple components to the price of your dig vacation: (1) you pay $750 to TeHEP as a down payment (this includes things like dig-related fees, expenses, and transportation, dig-day lunches, and field trips on non-dig days); (2) you arrange and pay for your own air transportation to Amman, Jordan (we'll pick you up at the Amman airport); (3) you make your hotel reservation through TeHEP at an amazing price (includes wonderful breakfasts and dinners), and pay your hotel bill when you check out at the end of your stay.
